Just another fun day

practicing recognizing the bigger numbers
on our way to go eat lunch with Tyner at school
(they were pretending to be shy!!)

We are practicing recognizing numbers 1-100 in math. She does a great job counting to 100. But we are really working on recognizing the numbers past 11. She is such a good student. I drew the numbers down the sidewalk. I would tell her to hop, skip, or jump to a particular number. The next activity she would throw an object on a number and call out the one it landed on.

After that fun lesson we packed a picnic and went across the street to Tyner's school and ate lunch with him. I loaded Maggie and Hunt in the bike buggie and off we went.

Learning to Read

We are all having so much fun finding different fun ways to learn our words. At the beginning of our homeschooling journey we did a gross motor skill activity that involved Maggie hopping, skipping, and jumping up a sidewalk chalk ladder. Writing the words up the ladder was actually her idea! Sounds a lot like an idea I would come up with! Anyway, these are the words she has learned so far and is doing extremely well! She is also sounding out words that have familiar patterns like...hat, sat, pat...had, mad, pad...etc...I am so proud of my little student!

Maggie's handwriting

I am one EXTREMELY proud Mama right now. Maggie wrote her name all by herself this morning! First she began tracing her name with sandpaper letters. Next, she traced over it on handwriting paper. Then, this morning I game her a blank piece of handwriting paper and this is what she did. She was so excited! She is moving really fast with everything we are learning! She is also doing a great job learning her sight words and sounding out words. Homeschooling has been really good for her because I can move at her pace...which just happens to be really fast! I think she will be very prepared for kindergarten!

Warriors Path

We took a family outing on Sunday to Warriors path. The kids LOVE it! It was Hunter's first time to see the unbelievable playground. There is a "babbling brook" that runs through it and kids get in it and play. I have a picture somewhere of Tyner and Maggie playing in it. It was a great Sunday afternoon outing!

A date with my hubby

Poppa came to spend the night with us on Saturday night so we could have a date. We went out with some friends of ours(that happen to live down the street and also went to Ole Miss) to a neat little restaurant/bar that is downtown. We had so much fun!

Soccer

We are both very proud of our soccer player. He is still loving the sport and always looks forward to every game. They have practice tomorrow and a game on Thursday and Saturday. He is a fast little guy! Hunter stands on the sidelines with the other dads and helps coach!

Update on Homeschooling

Hunt just goes right along with us.

We made letters out of play dough!

Using our sandpaper letters to get the feel for writing our last name
Last week she made this clown and had to use a color by number chart. She also made the puppy dog to go along with our story Harry the Dirty Dog.

Well, we are moving right along with Maggie's school. She is still loving it and so am I. Hunt is even enjoying it, too! We have moved on from learning to write her first name to now our last name. We start with sandpaper letters and then move to writing it with a pencil. She loves learning to write so we mix it up a little. She has already learned to read about 10 sight words and we are even working on so phonics. She is so eager to learn how to read so that has been really exciting!! I feel like at this point the sky is the limit. There is no stopping her!

Playing Dress Up

He looked so sweet all dressed up for Church I couldn't help but take some pictures of him. I think my favorite thing about these pictures is how sweet and innocent he looks.

Soccer

I can't believe this is Tyner's 4th season of soccer! His team is the Land Sharks! He is a good soccer player and very quick on his feet. Hunter has been impressed with how well he can turn the ball! The fields are unbelievably nice and nestled in the mountains. I have quite a view when I take him to practice!
